Sewer Manhole, Pipe Inspections to Take Place Next 2+ Months
In an effort to reduce the amount of groundwater and rainwater entering the Arlington sewer system, sources of both will be removed.
In an effort to reduce the amount of groundwater (infiltration) and rainwater (inflow) entering the Arlington sewer system, sources of both will be identified and removed, the Town announced. The removal of the sources will reduce the amount of water and the risk of backups and overflows.
Town consultants Weston & Sampson Engineers, Inc. and their subconsultant will conduct sewer manhole and sewer pipe inspections to identify sources. These inspections will take place between March 1 - May 19, Monday-Friday, between the hours of 7 a.m. - 5 p.m.
"Work will be conducted primarily within the Town’s right-of-way and private residences should not be affected," the Town wrote.

Nighttime flow isolation work will also be conducted Sunday through Thursday nights from midnight - 6 a.m. This involved measuring flow in each sanitary sewer manhole. It should only take 10 minutes per location, the Town said.
The inspectors will be in clearly marked trucks.
