BEACON HILL, MA — State Rep. Sean Garballey reached an agreement with the Office of Campaign and Political Finance to forgive $10,000 in loans to his campaign and pay a $2,000 fine after he was found to have violated campaign finance laws.

According to an agreement with the OCPF first published by The Boston Globe, Garballey did not disclose $17,000 in donations to his campaign and $14,000 in campaign expenses over two years. He also billed his campaign $851 for work-related Uber rides in 2018, despite getting a $15,000 travel stipend from taxpayers.

In a statement to The Globe, Garballey said there was not a "single point of contact for the campaign processing expenses and donations received through different platforms," adding, "this was and is my responsibility."
