Arlington Catholic football

The Arlington Catholic football team begins its campaign to defend its Catholic Central League title, which it split last year with Austin Prep, by facing Shawsheen Valley Technical High School at 7 p.m. at Arlington's Pierce Field.

The Arlington High School football team opens its season at Newton South High School at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Saturday, September 11

Spy Pond Park Arts and Music Festival

The Friends of Spy Pond Park are hosting an arts and music festival from noon to 4 p.m. at Spy Pond Park that will feature music, dance, poetry, arts and crafts. For a small donation, visitors of all ages can participate in a number of arts and crafts activities, while music, dance and poetry are all free.

Running with Friends 5K for Council on Aging

A 5-kilometer road race to benefit the Council on Aging will go off at 10 a.m. from Town Hall. There will be T-shirts, prizes, music, entertainment and a silent auction following the race. Walk-up registration, which begins at 8:15 a.m., is $20.
