The Mass Ave at Broadway bike share station could not be installed in fall 2020 due to conflicts with the Arlington Center Sidewalk Project construction and will be installed for the first time.
The Magnolia/Thorndike Field at Bikeway station has remained in place during the winter to be available year-round for bike share rentals. When including this station, Arlington will have a total of six bike share stations as part of the Bluebikes system.

Arlington’s bike share stations were installed as part of Bluebikes’ summer 2020 system expansion, which connects Arlington with existing stations in Somerville, Cambridge, Brookline, Everett, and Boston, as well as other new stations in Chelsea, Newton, Revere, and Watertown. The Bluebikes expansion enables Arlington residents to use bike share to access other communities in the system for work and recreation. The Bluebikes expansion to Arlington was supported by an award of $80,000 in Workforce Transportation Grant funds from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT). The grant required a local match of $20,000, which was approved by Town Meeting on June 15, 2020. The Bluebikes expansion is also supported by Lyft, the transportation network company that manages Bluebikes operations. Lyft contributed more than $100,000 in bike share equipment to each new municipality participating in the program to assist with the start-up costs of the system. Blue Cross Blue Shield is a title sponsor of the Bluebikes system.
