Officers Shannon Curran, Brandon McNulty, Mary Pieroni and Brandon Whalen graduated from the Plymouth Police Academy 70th Recruit Class during a ceremony on Friday, July 23.
"We are excited to welcome Officers Curran, McNulty, Pieroni and Whalen to the Arlington Police Department, and I'd like to congratulate them on their graduation from the academy," Chief Flaherty said. "These officers have shown their commitment to serving the Arlington community throughout the hiring and training process and I am confident that they will represent this department and community well."

The 20-week academy is a comprehensive training experience and consists of practical and classroom training covering 21st century policing best practices and focusing on the core principles of problem solving, procedural justice, ethical decision making, and fair and impartial policing.
All four officers were sworn in on Monday, July 26 by Assistant Town Clerk Janice Weber.
• Officer Curran was a behavioral support specialist for the Arlington Public Schools and attended the University of New Hampshire.
• Officer McNulty previously worked as a manager for a local business. He attended Middlesex Community College.
• Officer Pieroni worked as a legal assistant for a law firm in Boston and attended the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
• Officer Whalen previously worked as a marketing specialist. He attended the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
Each officer will now be paired with a field training officer to complete 12 weeks of field training. They will be familiarized with APD policies and procedures and will be observed and evaluated by their field training officer throughout the 12-week program.
