Town Of Arlington: Chairful Where You Sit Annual Auction For Public Art In Arlington

The Arlington Commission for Arts and Culture invites you to view the latest crop of artistically reinvented chairs created for the 2021 rendition of Chairful Where You Sit. More than 30 creatives from the metro area and as far away as Cape Cod and Maine have contributed their efforts to help raise funds for Arlington’s vibrant public art programming.

The event will feature live music by the District Five Jazz Band and the Morningside Blues Ensemble, as well as an artist talk and tour with sculptor Leslie Wilcox, whose installation, Arboreal Attire, is currently on view on the lawn of the Jason Russell House and Smith Museum.

Three People's Choice awards will be announced in the afternoon to the chairs with the most in-person votes. View the chairs on Saturday, August 21 from 12 to 5 on the grounds of the Jason Russell House, 7 Jason Street near Arlington Center.

12:30–1:45 p.m.               District Five Jazz Band

2:00 p.m.                           Leslie Wilcox  Sculptor, Talk and Tour

3:30–4:45 p.m.                  Morningside Blues Ensemble

4:45 p.m.                            People's Choice Awards announced

Chairs can be purchased through an online auction starting August 21 at noon and ending on Sept. 5 at 9 pm.

This event has been organized by the Arlington Commission for Arts and Culture’s (ACAC) Community Engagement Committee. The ACAC serves as the umbrella organization for all town-related arts and culture activities. The Commission consists of a core committee and four main standing subcommittees: Marketing and Evaluation, Grant Making, Fundraising and Resource Development, and Community Engagement.
