As we wait for the renovation of our center to be completed, let’s meet at the park for a little Halloween fun. It’s our Walking Club day, and we’re wearing our costumes and bringing some treats! Brightview Senior Living is bringing the coffee and pastry. Come to walk, talk, eat or do all three! Parking is easy but let us know if you need a van ride. McClennen Park is at 665 Summer Street. Karen Antonowicz presents: Despite wartime shortages, men and women managed to dress in style during WWI and WWII. Discover what these shortages were and how they were overcome by the determined people of this era. We will explore clothing and accessories and focus on the innovations of the stylish. Virtual Presentation in Honor of Veterans Day on The Music of World War One on Wednesday, November 10 at 10:00 am
Virtual Presentation by John Clark: This online presentation highlights popular music from 1914 thru 1918. From British war songs such as "It’s a Long, Long Way to Tipperary" to the pacifistic "I Didn’t Raise My Boy to Be a Soldier" and the popular "Over There" and the romantic" ‘Til We Meet Again" John will share how events of the war influenced these songs and many more. Virtual Knee Pain Workshop-Back By Popular Demand on Wednesday, November 10 at 12:00 noon
Knee pain affects our ability to do the things we love and can also contribute to serious health problems, like falls, heart conditions, and obesity. Fortunately, there is evidence to suggest that proper treatment can reduce and prevent knee pain and injuries. In this Zoom session join Orthopaedics Plus for to learn what really causes knee pain, when you should rest and when you can exercise with a knee injury, what to do if you have meniscus injuries, arthritis, bone-on-bone, bursitis, or other knee conditions. Find out if doing exercises like running and walking will wear out your knee cartilage. Understand more about injections, surgery, medication, supplements, creams, stretching and exercise. Virtual Dementia Friendly Fitness Class For Those With Memory Impairment and Their Caregivers Every Tuesday at 9:00 am
This online class is taught by Maria Skinner a Certified Ageless Grace® Educator & Trainer. Ageless Grace Brain Health Fitness is based on neuroplasticity and play. Activate all 5 areas of the brain and address all 21 primary “aging factors” of the body. It is fun, playful and a great way to stay fresh and clear in body & mind together!
