The Arlington Department of Planning and Community Development is pleased to announce that Erin Moriarty has joined the staff as its Assistant Director on June 28, 2021. Ms. Moriarty will perform professional and technical work, including the drafting and implementation of land use policies for the Town and management of community affairs.

“Erin is an excellent addition to the department and the Arlington community,” said Jennifer Raitt, Arlington’s Director of Planning and Community Development. “She brings a wealth of skills, knowledge, and expertise.”

Ms. Moriarty comes to the Town of Arlington from Columbus, Ohio where she served as Technical Lead, Planner & Project Manager at ms consultants, inc. an award-winning engineering, architecture, planning, and environmental consulting firm. In that role she developed action plans, budgets, and engagement strategies for a range of planning projects. Past projects include downtown revitalization plans, land use and zoning policy updates, multimodal transportation studies, and reactivation plans for riverfronts and public spaces. She strives to connect with community members to determine unique qualities worth highlighting and holds a deep appreciation for the crossover between economic development and quality of life factors such as parks, recreation, and housing. Ms. Moriarty holds a Master’s in City and Regional Planning from Ohio State University and a Bachelor’s of Fine Art from the University of Dayton. She is a member of the American Planning Association and, in the past, has served as Adjunct Faculty at Ohio State and Commissioner for a historic preservation and planning board.

Ms. Moriarty was selected from a pool of 15 applicants who applied for the position. Members of the selection team were Ms. Raitt, Caryn Malloy, Arlington Human Resources Director, and Adam Chapdelaine, Arlington Town Manager.
