Town Of Arlington: Notice Of Availability Of Draft CDBG Annual Action Plan

The Town of Arlington is in the process of completing a 1-Year Annual Action Plan for the Town’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program for submission to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). In order to receive CDBG funds, the Annual Action Plan must be consistent with the primary objective of Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended, which is to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing, a suitable living environment and expanding economic opportunities, principally for persons of low and moderate income, and include stakeholder consultation.

The draft Annual Action Plan was created based upon the broad goals and objectives outlined in the Town’s 5-Year Consolidated Plan, to address priority needs with resources available from HUD. For Program Year 47 (July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022) and for the purposes of the draft Annual Action Plan, the Town expects to receive approximately $1,090,533 in new grant funds from. Based on the requests for funds, monies will be allocated for Affordable Housing purposes, for Economic Development programs, for Public Service programs, for Public Facilities, Infrastructure, and Park projects, and for planning and general administration purposes. A budget, based on these recommendations, will be presented to Town Meeting. This budget is contingent upon Arlington’s final federal allocation.

The draft plan will be available for review and public comment Thursday, April 1, 2021 through Monday, May 3, 2021 at 4 PM at the Town of Arlington’s Community Development Block Grant webpage at https://www.arlingtonma.gov/cdbg.

All comments received on the Annual Action Plan will be considered, and included in the final plans sent to HUD along with the Town’s responses.
