UPDATE: Father and Son Rescued from Pool

The two males were taken to area hospitals Saturday morning.

A 39-year-old father and his 10-year-old son were transported to area hospitals Saturday morning after being pulled from the pool at the Old Colony Lane condominiums off Massachusetts Avenue at about 10:30 a.m.

A resident of the condominiums, whose unit overlooks the outdoor pool, which is 10 feet deep at one end, said he saw the boy lying face down in the pool for about 20 seconds. He then shouted out the window to notify a man below, told his wife to call the police and ran down to the pool to assist.

He said residents were able to pull both father and son from the pool before Arlington emergency personnel arrived minutes later. Both residents and then emergency personnel administered CPR, he said.

The pool, which is in the center of the condominium complex, will be closed throughout the weekend and might be shutdown for the season, according to a police officer on scene. The pool does not have lifeguards.
