Uber Driver Nearly Crashes Into Dunkin Donuts In Front Of Chief

The Arlington Police Chief was standing nearby when the repeat OUI offender nearly crashed into Dunkin Donuts, police said.

ARLINGTON, MA — The Arlington Police Chief made an arrest today after witnessing what he said was a man who claimed to be an Uber driver drive over a curb and flower bed and just miss crashing into a Dunkin' Donuts.

After a short investigation, Police Chief Frederick Ryan arrested Denys N. Corso, 49 of Arlington and charged him with operating under the influence of drugs (subsequent offense), operating to endanger, and negligent operation of a car.

"This was a dangerous situation, where an individual allegedly under the influence of drugs drove recklessly through a busy parking lot and nearly struck a building," Ryan said in a statement. "What matters most is that no innocent people were hurt."

Ryan was standing outside Dunks talking to a resident when a blue Ford Explorer drove into the parking lot and drove over the curb, coming close to the building, before the driver eventually came to a stop in a parking space, but with the vehicle's two front wheels over the curb and on the elevated walkway.

The chief said he went to talk to the driver who apparently did not realize his car was parked on the walkway.

Officer Michael Foley then arrived and led an on-scene investigation into the incident. Corso appeared confused and displayed obvious signs of impairment, according to police. During the investigation, Corso repeatedly told officers that he was an Uber driver and needed to get to work.

After failing several sobriety tests, police arrested Corso.

Further investigation by Officer Foley indicated that Corso may have used opioids prior to his arrival at the Dunkin Donuts, and an inventory of his vehicle turned up several unknown pills that will be logged into evidence and tested.
