Watertown Man Allegedly Accuses Police of Racism After OUI Arrest

The man was found with over two grams of heroin and over eight grams of marijuana.

ARLINGTON, MA—A Watertown man allegedly accused Arlington police officers of being racist after police arrested him on charges of operating under the influence and drug possession Sunday.

According to police reports, Ibrahim Hamad, 23, of Watertown was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs, leaving the scene of property damage, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and possession of heroin Sunday.

Police responded to the area of Lake St. after a report of a vehicle operating erratically. The reports say an officer arrived on scene and discovered Hamad yelling and punching his steering wheel aggressively. Two more officers were called, and officers concluded that Hamad may have been under the influence of drugs.

Hamad allegedly denied being in an accident as well as being under the influence of drugs.

Police said that after multiple requests, Hamad exited the vehicle and officers observed a syringe containing a red/brown tinged substance. Further search of the vehicle lead to the discovery of a white powder that was consistent with heroin, as well as a bag of marijuana and a prescription bottle for suboxone.

Police said that Hamad later accused the officers of being racist against Muslims.

Police also say that 2.2 grams of heroin and 8.3 grams of marijuana were found in the vehicle.
