Where Arlington Stands On Climate Change

Town manager speaks on Arlington's energy efforts following President Trump's recent announcement.

The following is a statement from Adam Chapdelaine regarding where Arlington stands following President Trump's announcement that the U.S. will pull out of the Paris accord:

In follow-up to Thursday's announcement regarding the Paris Accord I have received many questions from residents and others regarding Arlington's position on climate change and its past and planned energy efficiency and renewable energy efforts.
I would like to make clear to all Arlington residents that the Town's position remains the same in regard to its status as a Green Community and toward all of the work that we do regarding energy efficiency, renewable energy generation and climate change adaptation. Past programs such as LED streetlights, fuel-efficient vehicles for Town use, and solar panels on schools, plus our participation in Arlington Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) continue make Arlington a leader on the local level regarding all matters related to climate change and protecting the future of our planet.
I commend the Board of Selectmen for its continued leadership on these matters, and look forward to working with the Board, Town Meeting, and the Town as a whole to ensure that we do our part to protect our planet for future generations. Like many other municipalities and landmarks around the country, Arlington Town Hall will be lit in green to support the Paris Accord.
