Update: Attleboro Deals with Another Water Main Break

Attleboro Water Dept. has been dealing with a slew of water main breaks recently.

Editor's Note: Water is back on!

Nearly 40 homes on Lindsey Street, Cedar Creek Drive and Merigold Circle are without water because of a water main break in front of 434 Lindsey Street. It's one of several water main breaks that's plagued the city in recent weeks.

alerted the water department to the gushing water that had frozen over around 5 a.m. Friday. A crew from the Water Department quickly contacted Dig Safe and the gas company before cutting a 6 by 6-foot hole in the ground.

After nearly two hours of digging a 5-foot deep hole, the crew discovered a three-foot long crack in the main.

"We are going to put a Band-Aid  on that end, another Band-Aid on that end and a new pipe in the middle," Water supervisor Bob Amadon said, pointing to the water pipe.

The break on Lindsey Street comes just days after several other breaks in the city, including one on Bishop Street and two on Steere Street.

"It's a little busier than usual," Amadon said. "The colder it is the more we have."
