Coronavirus: Attleboro Fire Department Access Restricted

Attleboro fire said it will continue applications, inspections and permits as it is determined to be safe and a suspension is not necessary.

ATTLEBORO, MA — The Attleboro Fire Department announced on Monday that it is limiting access to stations during the coronavirus crisis. Effectively immediately, visitors will be restricted to all stations in an effort to limit both inadvertent contamination of stations and limiting potential transmission.

"We apologize for any inconvenience these changes will place on the public and we thank you for your understanding in helping to keep your firefighters safe and healthy," Attleboro fire said.

Restrictions will be placed on outside visitors for events such as fire station tours, public education events and general business. Attleboro fire is working with Attleboro Municipal Inspections to continue application, permitting and inspection activities, as well as permits for both commercial and residential activities. Attleboro fire said it will continue to assess the ability to safety and and effectively continue these activities, and "may determine that a suspension is necessary in the future."

Visitors who must enter the station will be asked a health status and will not be allowed in if it is determined they pose a health risk. Any visitor must maintain a proper social distance of six feet from the door when interacting with interacting with members of the department.
