Get Out: Restaurants and Roller Derby Girls

• THE RED PARROT
  Where/When: 348 Thames St., Newport, R.I.
• Why Go: This restaurant's architecture is snazzy. A site on the National Register of Historic Places in Newport, the building has been standing for over 100 years. Plus the drink list is extensive and they make a mean appetizer.

• PROVIDENCE ROLLER DERBY ON ICE
  Where/When: The Bank of America Skating Rink in Providence's Kennedy Plaza on Saturday, Feb. 12, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  Why Go: You've heard the hype - now check out the all-female roller derby athletes on ice. The roller derby girls are taking off their four-wheel skates and putting on some blades as a kick-off to the 2011 season. There will be hot chocolate and a photo booth to get your picture taken with the derby girls. Plus, you can skate with them!
  Pricing: Adults pay $6 and it's $4 to rent skates.

• ROCK AND ROLL YARD SALE
  Where/When: The Met, 1005 Main St., Pawtucket, R.I. from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 13.
  Why Go: If you're looking for a vintage Valentine's Day gift, you can't pass up this sale. Owners from What Cheer Antiques are in charge - there will be old records, memorabilia, screen prints, and more to chose from. Plus, a DJ will be spinning vinyl all day long.

• Where/When: 393 Taunton Ave., Seekonk
  Why Go: Called the "best kept secret in town," this restaurant has a cozy bar and excellent food. A favorite among locals. Plus, it's close to home!

• CARATUNK WILDLIFE REFUGEWhere/When: 301 Brown Ave., Seekonk
  Why Go: To unwind from your busy weekend, take a walk with the dog in this beautful refuge.
  Pricing: Free
