Long Prison Term for Attleboro Man in Random, Drunken Attack on Student

Travis Lesperance and two friends drunkenly went out "bum-hunting" one night, prosecutors said, and assaulted a Providence College student.

An Attleboro man was sentenced to 12 years in prison for a random, drunken attack that left a college student seriously injured.

Travis Lesperance, 25, of 216 South Main St., Attleboro, was also given eight years probation following his release.

Prosecutors said the violent assault happened May 6, 2013 when Lesperance and four friends decided to go “bum-hunting”—meaning attack and rob people at random—during a night of drinking in Attleboro.
