Man Broke Into Attleboro Zoo, Left Wallet Behind: Police
Police said Joseph Villa, 52, was looking to visit the lemurs at the Capron Park Zoo.

ATTLEBORO, MA — A man who police said broke into a zoo in Attleboro to visit lemurs is under arrest after police said they used contents of a wallet left in the zoo to help identify him.
Police said Joseph Villa, 52, entered the Capron Park Zoo, which is closed to the public due to the coronavirus health crisis, through a fence Monday night. Police arrested Villa was identified using what was found in the wallet and surveillance video.
He was located on County Street about 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

Police told CBS Boston that Villa attempted to use a boat to reach an island where the lemurs stay. The boat got stuck and he swam back to shore. Zoo employees discovered the boat moved when they arrived at the zoo on Tuesday.
Villa is charged with breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony, larceny and vandalism.
