Burning Body Probe Shifts To Cranston

The investigation into a body dumped in Attleboro shifts to Cranston. A suspect is in custody, according to news sources.

CRANSTON, RI — The state Attorney General's office confirmed Wednesday the Cranston police are now the lead agency investigating a suspicious death. A body was found on Prescott Street, Attleboro, Mass., around 3 a.m. Tuesday. The body was dumped and set on fire. It was discovered along a wooded section of road. The Attleboro chief said a patrol officer discovered the body when he investigated what appeared to be a brush fire.

Prescott Street is near I-95, police said. The Bristol County District Attorney's office and Massachusetts State Police were also part of the probe. But now, the Cranston police are in charge. According to WPRI-TV, police were at a house on Edgewood Street. Channel 10 is also reporting a suspect is in custody.

Patch has asked Cranston police for the details.
