Welcome to Seekonk Patch!

I'm Abigail Crocker, editor of Seekonk Patch. After graduating from school, I worked as a reporter in Rhode Island for a few years and now I'm excited to dig up stories that matter to you in Seekonk.

What is Patch? We are a new hyperlocal website dedicated to bringing you essential news and information about the community of Seekonk. But wait, that's not all. You'll also find a comprehensive business directory and schedule of events happening around town. 

We're excited to get to know Seekonk and cover all the things that matter to residents. Patch has already launched more than 260 sites in 17 states across the country.  Like them, Seekonk Patch will cover local government, schools, police and fire, the arts, entertainment, etc. And if you think there's something that needs some Patch attention, just send me an e-mail.

News

Our news section will feature stories about politics, government, schools, sports and business. A team of freelancers and I will cover events and get to know the community. We plan to tell these stories in multiple formats, so photos and videos will accompany much of the content you see on our site. If you see us around town with cameras and notebooks, don't be shy. Come up and tell us what's going on.

And we want to help local organizations by publicizing their news and helping them recruit volunteers, which can be done easily through our site. Upload your events and announcements, tell us about the community groups you're involved in and send us news tips and story ideas. We're also always on the hunt for local writers, videographers and columnists, so e-mail me at abigail.crocker@patch.com if you want to become the next Hemingway or have someone in mind for the job.

The Directory

Our directory listings include information about local businesses, schools, churches, government offices and departments, civic organizations, and parks and recreational areas. This is where you'll find the hours of operation and services and products they provide.  We also include nifty maps and photos.

Events and Announcements

Our events calendar will be your source for as much as possible that is happening in Seekonk. We'll do the best job we can, but we can always use your help. Feel free to upload events to Seekonk Patch. 

Our announcements section also is a great way for you to share important accomplishments or life events with your neighbors.  Did your child get a school award or get engaged or married? Did you get promoted? Do you want to thank a neighbor for helping in a time of need? Post it on our announcements page and let everyone in Seekonk celebrate the good news.
