3 Officers Race Into Burning Home On Cape Cod

Three police officers were treated at the hospital after racing into a burning home to look for residents.

HARWICH, MA — Three Harwich police officers were taken to the hospital after racing into a burning home to search for residents. Police arrived at the scene around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and ran in after neighbors said they believed there were people inside, according to the Harwich Fire Department.

Firefighters arrived shortly after and quickly put out the fire. Officers found a dog but no people inside, the fire department said. The homeowners later returned home.

The fire was contained to one room and is believed to be caused by an electrical issue, the fire department said. Damage was estimated to be about $20,000.

The police officers were taken to Cape Cod Hospital and have since been released. No other injuries were reported.
