Annual Veterans Day Ceremony at Massachusetts National Cemetery

The Annual Veterans Day Ceremony will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. 

The ceremony will begin with a Parade of Colors led by all participating organizations.   

Master of Ceremonies will be Francis Carmichael, Chairman of the Joint Veterans Committee. Welcoming remarks will be given by Cemetery Director Paul McFarland. 

The Massachusetts Maritime Academy Band under the Direction of Cadet 1^st Class Patrick Lee and Cadet 1^st Class Andrew Pfister will provide musical selections.  

The guest speaker will be Mr. Paul A. Spera, Past Commander-in-Chief (1995-1996), Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States.  The invocation and benediction will be given by LCDR Jen Bowden, CHC, United States Navy, Chaplain, Sector Southeast New England. 

Many veterans’ organizations will present wreaths in honor of their deceased comrades.  The Firing of the Volleys will be done by the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department.  TAPS will be played by Mr. Peter Barmashi.  

Please join the Massachusetts National Cemetery Joint Veterans Committee as they honor more than 48 million of America’s Heroes, our Nation’s Veterans.

This ceremony is being held on Sunday the 6th, rain or shine, so that we do not conflict with local town observances on the actual holiday, November 11th.
