Barnstable & Yarmouth Police Shop with a Cop Event

What an amazing day with everyone during our first ever Yarmouth and Barnstable Police 'Shop with a Cop' community policing event! We had a wonderful lunch at the greatZambelis family's new Red Faced Jacks Sports Pub in West Yarmouth with a combination of five deserving students athletes from Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School,Mattacheese Middle School, and Barnstable High School.                                                                    

To see Police Officers from both departments having lunch with such strong and determined student athletes was wonderful and to watch these young men and women from two 'rival' towns getting to know each other and sharing stories was heartwarming and very powerful. Our amazing day continued in the afternoon when we hit the beautiful new Sports Authority Super Store in Hyannis with our combination of student athletes.  Each student was greeted by the gracious store manager and then allowed to Shop with their very own Cop. 

Approximately $625 dollars later, every penny covered by Sports Authority and private donations, the students went back to school and the Police Officers went back to work with a solid understanding of true Community Policing…and friendships for a lifetime with a solid understanding of true Community Policing and friendships made for a lifetime!

By the very gracious store manager and Yarmouth Selectman Curt Sears and then allowed to roam free in the store with their very own Police Officer and purchase anything they needed! Yarmouth Police Chief Frank Frederickson and Mattacheese Middle School School Resource Officer Sean Brewer led the way and teamed up with two ofBarnstable Police Department's finest-Barnstable High School School Resource Officer Reed "The Governor" Hall and Brian "The Mayor" Morrison- and the students selected the very latest in athletic gear and apparel.

The entire $625.00 final cost was covered by Sports Authority and the very happy students and Police Officers went back to school and back to work with a solid understanding of true Community Policing and friendships made for a lifetime!
