Cape Cod Bluefins to Honor Military and Service People this Weekend

The Cape Cod Bluefins, the Cape’s only Professional Hockey team, today announced a schedule of activities, set to begin this Friday, November 11th, to honor United States military and service personnel.

On Friday evening, November 11th, the Cape Cod Bluefins will host the Brooklyn Aviators at the Hyannis Youth and Community Center in Hyannis, Massachusetts. The puck drops at 7:05pm. Military or Service personnel can show their ID at the door and receive discounted admission.

On Saturday, November 12th, the Cape Cod Bluefins and the Federal Hockey League will host the United States Honor Network. The Honor Network is the custodian of the United States Honor Flag, the very flag that flew at Ground Zero immediately after the attacks on 9/11. This national treasure travels around the Country in recognition of our Fallen Heroes.

The Honor Flag will be on display from 5pm to 7pm at the Hyannis Youth & Community Center, before the start of Saturday evening’s game against the New Jersey Outlaws. A special ceremony will be conducted at ice level prior to the puck drop at 7:05pm. The National Anthem will be sung by Barnstable Polics Officer, Stephen O’Brien and a portion of the proceeds from Saturday’s evening’s game will go to the United States Honor Network.
