Each summer season, the ‘Harbor Your Arts’ artist shanties at Hyannis Harbor have put local artists in direct contact with thousands of visitors, generating tremendous exposure and revenue for the artists.  Since the programs inception in 2005 over 230 artists have participated, and collectively, sales figures are close to one million dollars!  As of last season, over a half million visitors have been to the shanties.  The Town ofBarnstable introduced the Harbor Your Arts (HyA) program as one of several arts related strategies to revitalize the downtown area and establishHyannis as a regional center for creative and performing arts.

This program continues today with the generous grant support of the Massachusetts Cultural Council Adams Grant and our partners, the Main Street Business Improvement District (BID), Arts Foundation of Cape Cod (AFCC), Cape Cod Art Association (CCAA), the Hyannis Area Chamber of Commerce and in coordination with Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce.

The shanties are open weekends mid May –mid June and then seven days a week end of June through first weekend in October.  There are always new and returning artists featuring everything from handmade jewelry, to painting, sculpture, ceramics, fiber arts, wood carving, tapestry and much more.
