Human Rights Commission Seeks 2 New Commissioners

The Barnstable County Human Rights Commission is seeking candidates to fill two vacancies on the Commission for terms beginning January 2012.  To comply with the HRC ordinance of staggered terms, one term will be for two years and one term will be for three years. The nine member Human Rights Commission was created in 2005 by the County’s Assembly of Delegates to promote equal opportunity, prevent discrimination, investigate and mediate complaints and provide a local office where people can learn how to protect their rights.  For more information about the Human Rights Commission go to www.bchumanservices.net

The Barnstable County Health & Human Services Advisory Council will review applications for this Volunteer position and make recommendations to the Barnstable County Commissioners.  The County Commissioners are responsible for appointing Commissioners to the Human Rights Commission.
