Jack Ahlin featured artist on display through February 17, 2012 Artwork on Loan program at Barnstable Town Hall
The “Art on Loan” program, highlighting local artists on the meeting room walls in Barnstable Town Hall features the works of Jack Ahlin, January 16th through February 17th, 2012.
Jack Ahlin began painting and taking art courses after relocating to Cape Cod some 15 years ago. With a background is in mathematics and physics painting now has become a source of complete joy for him. “Early on, he learned not just to look at the world around him, but to see it. Skies had been just blue and trees just green.” The choice of subjects for his acrylic paintings developed from his love of the time spent painting and learning to paint. The choice of subjects stems from his viewing nature for shapes, color combinations, reflections in standing water, shadows, and cloud filled skies.
He uses what he observes as the basis for creating his paintings. A member and former officer of the Cape Cod Art Association, Jack Ahlin has exhibited widely at various venues, including the Cape Cod Art Association, the Falmouth Artists Guild, the CapeCod Cultural Center, and the Brewster Library. The recipient of many artist awards and ribbons for his acrylics, Jack also has been a featured participant in the Cahoon Museum’s annual July art auction, “The Great Brush Off!” Jack displays a decided preference for landscape but not your typical Cape Cod views.
