Natural Lawn Care Program April 14th-Save the Date!

You may have recently read that the Town of Wellfleet has adopted a Organic Land Management Policy for their town-owned properties. Working with Wellfleet Town Administrator Paul Sieloff, GreenCAPE was instrumental in getting the policy adopted --offering the generous help of Chip Osborne to consult with Wellfleet DPW to insure that the successful transition to organic, even on those problem areas such as sports fields. We are working on this in several other towns as well. Maybe yours could be next!

Now GreenCAPE is privileged to be able to bring the nationally renowned Marblehead turf master –Chip Osborne—back to Cape Cod! Chip will be doing a workshop on natural lawn care for the homeowner (attachment) on Sat. Apr.14^th in Barnstable.Charles "Chip" Osborne, Jr., founder and President of Osborne Organics, LLC, has over 10 years experience in creating safe, sustainable and healthy athletic fields and landscapes, and 35 years experience as a professional horticulturist. As a wholesale and retail nurseryman he has firsthand experience with the pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides routinely used in landscape and horticultural industry. Personal experience led him to believe there must be a safer way to grow plants. His personal investigation, study of conventional and organic soil science practices, and hands-on experimentation led him to become one of the country's leading experts on growing sustainable, natural turf. He is currently planning organic pilot projects with 9 national parks!

Along the path to greening his own industry practices, Chip became a regular lecturer for the Northeast Organic Farming Association organic landscaper accreditation course, a board member of Beyond Pesticides, Chairman of the Marblehead, Massachusetts' Recreation and Parks Department, and speaker nationwide on the topic of turf management for athletic fields and landscapes. He speaks to a wide audience of sports field professionals, state and municipal agencies, and community groups. Chip’s method of lawn care significantly decreases nutrient loading in
