Taste, Touch and See Students’ Technical Skills at Cape Cod Mall

Teenagers are regular visitors to the Cape Cod Mall in Hyannis, but on January 14th and 15th dozens of teens will be on-hand not to shop but to display some of their well-honed technical skills. From 11am to 5pm each day in the mall’s Macy’s Men’s Wing, students from Cape Cod Regional Technical High School will be hosting live, interactive demonstrations of the unique technical skills they have learned at the regional public school. Cape Cod Mall visitors will have the opportunity to taste, touch and see students’ technical skills from many of the school’s programs including:

  • Early Childhood Education – students will have simulated babies on-hand to demonstrate their infant care skills
  • Cosmetology – students will do live hair designs on mannequins including wedding up-dos, prom styles, foiling techniques and rollers
  • Culinary – students will be demonstrating their knife skills and serving sweet and savory popcorn
  • Horticulture – students will install a landscape exhibit and demonstrate their flower arranging skills
  • Health Tech – students will host a free blood pressure clinic
  • Graphic Arts – students will display their creative designs and new website
  • Carpentry – students will do a live shingling and clapboard demonstration
  • Auto Tech – students will be working on a Nissan sports car custom-built from scratch
  • Auto Collision – students will demonstrate airbrushing techniques and will showcase completed projects
  • Welding – students will display artistic welding projects
  • Information Technology – students will showcase some of their innovative senior projects
  • Engineering – students will showcase 3D computer modeling systems and introduce audiences to Cape Cod Tech’s newest technical program launching in September 2012.

As displays will rotate every two hours over the two-day event, visitors are invited to come back often to see and experience each different student showcase. Instructors will also be on-hand to answer any questions parents and prospective students may have about each technical program.
