Barnstable County Fair Line-up, Schedule Announced

Take a look at the upcoming county fair information.

Press Release:

The return of the Gin Blossoms and appearances by 2010 American Idol
runner-up Crystal Bowersox and country music sensation Thompson Square
headline the 2011 Barnstable County Fair's main-stage entertainment lineup.
The fair will open July 16 and run through July 23 at the county fairgrounds
off Route 151 in East Falmouth.

This year's theme is "Full of Fun."

Sixties and 70s pop rockers Paul Revere and the Raiders will appear as well,
and the main arena will again host fan favorites Monster Truck Crush, the
World's Greatest Demo Derby and Team Extreme FMX motocross.
The Fair will host the finals for the second annual Cape Cod Summer Star
competition, a search contest for the area's best singing talent.

After enduring a rainout at last year's fair, the mid-1990s
mega-group Gin Blossoms will return to perform its menu of smart pop on
opening night. Reunited in 2002 following a breakup, lead singer Robin
Wilson and his band mates will resurrect their Top 10 hits, "Till I Hear
from You" and "Follow you Down," along with tracks from their 1992
quadruple-platinum album, "New Miserable Experience."

Folk-country-rocker Crystal Bowersox soared from a life of rural poverty and
obscurity to international fame last year as the sentimental favorite among
American Idol finalists. Her second-place finish jump-started her career as
an emotive singer and acoustic guitarist. Her new album, "Farmer's
Daughter," is winning rave reviews nationwide.

Thompson Square's infectious "Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not" recently topped
the country music charts. The husband-and-wife duo of Keifer and Shawna
Thompson met during a singing competition in Nashville and quickly honed a
soulful and graceful musical act described by critics as a place "where
country meets rock, rough meets smooth and vagabond hearts convene."

Fans of American pop/rock have sustained Paul Revere & the Raiders since the
mid-60s when they elbowed aside British music invaders with a string of
chart hits including "Kicks," "Hungry," "Good Thing" and "Indian
Reservation." Applauded as a "grandmaster showman" and the "mad man of rock
& roll," Paul Revere presents an energetic stage act built on spontaneity
and off-beat antics.

Produced in partnership with 106 WCOD-FM, Cape Cod Summer Star will
spotlight the winners of preliminary pub karaoke competitions in a contest
for a $1,000 top prize. New this year is a contest of young talent, ages
12-20, who will submit their music to judges via e-mailed audio files and
videos.

Arena Shows

Three Monster Trucks will take over the main arena Tuesday,
July 19 in a rousing freestyle crush. The trucks drew record crowds to last
year's fair.

The crowd-pleasing World's Largest Demolition Derby will
return Wednesday, July 20, and sky-chasing FMX Motocross riders will go
wheel-to-wheel again Monday, July 18.

For the first time, the fair will present Sea Lion Splash, an educational and entertaining exhibition of adopted marine mammals that were rescued from the wild because of age or injury.

Also returning is the captivating petting zoo for adults and
children, featuring small creatures, exotic cats and giant snakes, and the
perennial favorite, Birds of Prey show of rescued raptors.
More than 90,000 people attend the Barnstable County Fair each year to enjoy
stage and arena shows, livestock exhibits, midway fun, games of chance and
craft displays.

The non-profit Barnstable County Agricultural Society uses fair proceeds, in part, to fund scholarships for Cape-area young people who pursue careers in agriculture and conservation. For more information, go to www.BarnstableCountyFair.org or www.Facebook.com/BarnstableCountyFair.
