Barnstable Man Pleads Guilty To Child Porn Charges

Police searched Steven Carme's hard drive and found 7,881 images and 616 videos of child pornography.

BARNSTABLE, MA — A Barnstable man pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court to child pornography charges.

Steven Carme, 32, pleaded guilty to distribution of child pornography, receipt of child pornography and possession of child pornography involving a prepubescent minor and a minor who had not attained 12 years of age.

Between Feb. 2, 2017 and Feb. 5, 2019, Carme downloaded and distributed several image and video files depicting child pornography via peer-to-peer file sharing software. During a search of Carme's home, police seized a laptop and an external hard drive. Forensic review of the hard drive revealed approximately 7,881 images and 616 videos of child pornography.

Carme later admitted to police that the laptop and hard drive were his and that he downloaded, stored and distributed child pornography.

All three of the charges carry a five to 20-year sentence. Carme's sentencing hearing was scheduled for March 8, 2022.
