Barnstable Post 206 Baseball Squad Keeps Rolling
Now standing at 11-0-1 on the 2012 season, and having reached the regular-season midway point, the Barnstable Post 206 American Legion baseball team gears up to make a bid for the Northeast Regional Tournament with games on tap each day this week.
Inning by inning.
Championships are rarely won by looking too far ahead and in District 10 American Legion baseball - the most competitive high school-aged summer baseball in the state - it takes moment-by-moment focus to attain glory.
Thus, the motto of this year's Barnstable Post 206 American Legion baseball club, "inning by inning."

Thanks to five solid innings turned in last night by righty Pete Liimatainen (3-0), Post 206 took home its 11th win of the season (11-0-1) against host Hanover Post 149, a 9-1 one-sided affair.
Liimatainen struck out one, scattered three hits and walked two while relievers George Bent and Alec Morrison took care of the sixth and seventh frames with precision. In all three of his starts this season, Liimatainen has allowed just one run giving him a 1.20 era. He is headed for Westfield State to pitch this fall.

Post 206 got all the run support its pitchers would need in the top of the first inning when Alex Pernick (2-4, 2 RBI) punched an opposite-field single between first and second to score Dylan Morris and Mark Brodd.
Dan Walsh added three RBI on a 1-3 day at the plate while the remainder of the Post 206 lineup accounted for just four hits totalled. Barnstable capitalized on a mix of eight walks and a handful of errors afforded by the hosts at Norwell High School.
Post 206 remained atop first place in District 10 for the first time in 26 years.
Due to its recent success, Barnstable is sending seven players to the 2012 Compass Moving District 10 All-Star Game at Orleans on Thursday, July 12, at 7:00 pm. Those players are Will Toffey, Dylan Morris, Keegan Dellacona, Alex Pernick, Mark Brodd, Everett Walsh and Luke Besse.
