Beaty Turns In Hundreds Of More Signatures, Speaks Out About Sharks

BREAKING NEWS! - BEATY TURNS IN HUNDREDS MORE CERTIFIED VOTER SIGNATURES FOR BARNSTABLE COUNTY COMMISSIONER TO SECRETARY OF STATE, AND SPEAKS OUT ON CAPE COD'S MENACING SHARK AND SEAL PROBLEM

Barnstable, Cape Cod: May 31, 2022 - Regional community activist and Open Meeting Law Advocate, Ronald Beaty announced today that he has turned in hundreds more certified voter signature papers on nomination papers to the Secretary of State for a total of 1137 relative to his 2022 Republican Candidacy for County Commissioner on Cape Cod.

Beaty elaborated that though he had already completed all of the final legal requirements to be officially listed on the ballot as of May 6th, the more than 1,100 certified voter signatures helps to cement his political support by Cape Cod residents in order to win the election this coming November.

Ron Beaty explained that according to state law, only 500 certified voter signatures are actually required to get onto the ballot.

Beaty said that his fiscally conservative Republican candidacy for Barnstable County Commissioner possesses very strong voter support as illustrated by the tremendous amount of positive feedback he has been receiving since he announced his candidacy several months ago.

On Cape Cod's growing Great White Shark and seal overpopulation problem, Beaty said, "In addition to re-declaring the month of August Seal and Shark Public Awareness Month for 2022, why not make it a permanent declaration for the month of August each year?"

Beaty continued, "Going forward, in my opinion, we should concentrate on concrete solutions that most likely will become more palatable to the general public as the shark threat increases with the increase in the shark population off our coast. When the next tragic attack occurs we must be ready to offer recommendations to the public but more importantly to our elected officials. Our recommendations should put the shark lobby on the defensive by using their own data against them. More specifically, actual current population, projected future population, and current and future migration data. As you know, the shark promoters and profiteers are withholding research data that do not promote their agendas."

Barnstable County Commissioner Candidate Ron Beaty laid out his strategy and recommendations,
"1 ) Great white sharks should be listed as recovered and not endangered. (Endangered Species Act). This is where actual numbers matter. White sharks have been mindlessly protected on the east coast since 1997 (Fed), 2003 (MA). 2) All shark protection in state and federal coastal waters lifted and the reintroduction of licensed white shark fishing implemented. Let commercial and sport fishermen do what they do best. 3) Allow the use of smart and traditional drumlines by our local seashore towns to mitigate the existing shark threat at our public beaches.4) Ban white shark tagging, as some studies have revealed that the tags and their radio frequency increase shark aggressiveness and alter their behavior. 5) The appointment of a public official to mediate the opposing interests of the shark lobby and the legitimate public health and safety concerns at our beaches. Currently, the shark lobby has the upper hand, especially with the media and officials."

Ron Beaty said that as non-incumbent candidate for County Commissioner who has been continually involved with numerous Regional Government issues as both an activist and advocate for the public during the last several years, and as a former County Commissioner, he brings a unique skill set and wealth of experience to the table. This is something that makes him uniquely qualified as a candidate.
