Cape Cod Man Briefly Escapes Police Custody Before Court Appearance
Police converged on the area near Barnstable Superior Court for a brief search before the man gave himself up.
BARNSTABLE, MA — A major police presence at Barnstable Superior Court on Monday was due to a man who briefly escaped police custody on his way to an appearance, Yarmouth police said.
Jatayvyn Stone Crayton, 25, of West Yarmouth, was arrested on Sunday on outstanding warrants and was held in police custody until his transfer to court, which was scheduled for Monday.
A Yarmouth officer transported Crayton to court and, police said, had advised the trial court officer of his arrival.

"The officer chased Crayton through court property and across Route 6A through a business area when he lost sight of him. Multiple Barnstable Police and Trial Court Officers converged in the area to search the wood line. A few moments later, Crayton gave himself up, stating he was hurt."
