Ten people were charged Thursday in what authorities described as a "wide-ranging" drug conspiracy.

TRURO, MA – A Cape Cod man was among 10 people charged in a Brockton-based fentanyl and cocaine conspiracy, according to the U.S. Attorney's office. Brian Donahue, 38, of Truro faces one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute fentanyl and cocaine.
Nine others face the same conspiracy charge:
- Djuna Goncalves, 32, of Brockton, currently in state custody
- Cody Goncalves, 26, of Brockton, currently in state custody
- Anthony Goncalves, 20, of Brockton, currently at-large
- Angelo Pina, 27, of Brockton
- Calvin Mendes, 40, of Brockton
- Carlos Antunes, 33, of Brockton
- Jermaine Gonsalves, 32, of Brockton
- Ozair Pereira, 30, of Brockton

This year, authorities began investigating Djuna Goncalves and other alleged members of A Block, a violent Brockton street gang based in the Addison Avenue area, the USAO said. The neighborhood has been plagued by shootings, including two murders, and other crimes of violence for years, according to authorities.

Goncalves and his brothers, Cody and Anthony, dealt large amounts of fentanyl, cocaine and other drugs from an apartment on Addison Avenue to traffickers in Brockton and southeastern Massachusetts as part of a "wide-ranging" conspiracy, authorities said. Djuna and Cody Goncalves and Calvin Mendes dealt drugs while on pre-trial release for state drug trafficking and gun possession charges, and Djuna Goncalves and Angelo Pina were previously convicted of federal drug trafficking charges in Massachusetts, according to the USAO.
Pina is still on supervised release from his prior federal conviction.

Djuna Goncalves survived an assassination attempt Oct. 21, during which an unidentified attacker fired multiple shots into his basement apartment, authorities said. When law enforcement searched his home, they found an AK-47 assault rifle, a .45-caliber Glock pistol, a large amount of ammunition clips to various weapons, fentanyl, cocaine, crack cocaine, marijuana, suboxone strips, a hydraulic press, packaging materials, digital scales and about $12,000 in cash, the USAO said.
Djuna and Cody Goncalves were arrested as a result of the search. Officials did not elaborate on Donahue's alleged connection to the Goncalves brothers.
"This morning’s arrests should remind all gang members and drug traffickers that they cannot operate freely in this state," U.S. Attorney Andrew E. Lelling said in a statement. "Over the past year, in conjunction with our federal, state, and local law enforcement partners, we have removed dozens of violent criminals from our communities, and we will continue to do so."
