BARNSTABLE, MA — Police have arrested two men in connection with a fatal cocaine overdose that occurred last November on the Cape.

William Sarnie, 62, of Nantucket, and Andre Silvia, 56, of Wareham, face multiple drug charges related to the death of an unidentified person, according to a news release late Friday.

The arrests follow a months-long investigation by Barnstable detectives as well as county, state and federal law enforcement.

The case got a break from the January arrest of Edward Gillespie, 62, also of Nantucket, whom officials identified as “a narcotics supplier, trafficking cocaine from Hyannis to the island.”

At the time of his arrest, Gillespie was preparing to transport a kilogram of cocaine – worth up to $30,000 – from Hyannis to Nantucket.

Based on information from that arrest, the multi-agency task force executed search warrants Thursday in Nantucket and Wareham.

Sarnie and Silvia were being held without bail, both facing allegations of cocaine trafficking and other charges. Each of the men are scheduled for arraignment soon. Gillespie was arraigned in January and is scheduled to appear in a hearing on March 25.
