Cape Man Admits To Possessing 2,600 Grams Of Fentanyl, Heroin
Dustin Monick, 23, will face at least 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to possessing fentanyl and heroin with intent to distribute.
YARMOUTH, MA — A Cape Cod man pleaded guilty in federal court Monday after being caught with more than 2,600 grams of fentanyl and heroin.
Dustin Monick, 23, of South Yarmouth, was convicted of possession with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl and possession with intent to distribute 100 or more grams of heroin.
In December 2019, police pulled over Monick for several traffic violations. After speaking with police, prosecutors said he tried driving away, but was caught soon after. Police saw a backpack in Monick's car before he drove away and later found it on the side of the road. The backpack contained more than 600 grams of fentanyl and heroin.

Police searched Monick and found two keys. One key was for a storage locker and the other two a safe. They contained over 2,000 grams of fentanyl and more than $100,000 in cash.
Monick's sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 8. He faces 10 years to life in prison, at least four years of supervised release and a fine of up to $10 million.
