Cape Teen Fires Gun At Hyannis Hotel: Police

Police said Keethain Joseph, 18, shot several rounds from the balcony of a Hyannis hotel.

BARNSTABLE, MA — A Dennis teen was arrested after police said he fired a gun several times inside a Hyannis Hotel.

Keethain Joseph, 18, was charged with assault by means of a dangerous weapon, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, unlawful possession of ammunition and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building.

Around 2:40 p.m., Friday, police were called to a local hotel in Hyannis for reports of a man with a gun trying to get inside to one of the rooms. Upon arrival, police said they saw Joseph trying to break into a room and saw a gun in the waistband of his shorts.

While being taken into custody, police said Joseph tried to grab the gun from his waist band, but officers stopped him. Police said they seized Joseph's gun and discovered its serials number was scratched off. Joseph was also carrying several rounds of ammunition and a spent shell casing.

Police said they later learned Joseph shot the gun several times from a hotel balcony overlooking the swimming pool. A search warrant revealed a second spent shell casing and more ammunition in the hotel room where police said Joseph fired the gun from

Joseph was arraigned in Barnstable District Court Monday, He was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing Wednesday.
