
k.d. lang's career has brought her from punk rock to kitschy country to pop, crooning, and into the realms of alt-country singer/songwriter. Depending on what point of her career you look at, she can be compared to Patsy Cline, Joni Mitchell, Emmylou Harris, or Tony Bennett. Heavily influenced by Patsy Cline early on, k.d. lang formed a band called The Reclines. She struggled for acceptance within the Nashville scene but as her sound evolved over the years and her audience has developed with her. k.d. lang won a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female for her song, “Constant Craving.”
