
Cape Cod Community College has announced their fall production, “Othello,” by William Shakespeare.
With a mix of student and community actors, the timeless tale of love and revenge offers a modern twist. The production, directed by Vana Trudeau, features a woman in the title role.
While the character of Othello is a Moor, “Fundamentally,” says Trudeau, “the tragedy is borne of jealousy and prejudice, not racism.”

In casting a woman as Othello, she suggests, “we explore how same-sex marriage has displaced inter-racial marriage in today’s social discourse.”
