Pink Martini is a bit like an urban musical travelogue. They make music that draws inspiration from the romantic Hollywood musicals of the 1940s or '50s with a more global perspective. Pink Martini is a 12 piece band with wide ranging influences - two percussionists who spend a lot of time in Brazil; another percussionist who grew up in Peru; a German speaking trombone player who studied with the brass section of the Chicago Symphony and likes Miles Davis; a singer who studied French and Italian and sings in 15 different languages; a cellist who speaks Mandarin. This musical diversity has allowed them to become American musical ambassadors to the world.
