"Play With Your Food" series at CCCC

Cape Cod Community College’s Department of Arts and Communication is pleased to announce the line up for this Fall’s “Play with your Food” series.

The series features local playwrights’ original scripts for staged, workshop readings in the Studio Theatre of the Tilden Arts Center.

A light-fare dinner menu is available for purchase to enjoy during the show, provided by the College's Zammer Hospitality Institute.  Each evening concludes with a talk-back session with the author.

“Poker Night” and “The Morning After,” by Josh Coleman; September 21st

In, “Poker Night,” a friendly game of poker turns red-hot as four long time buddies struggle to redefine their friendships amidst girlfriends, an unplanned pregnancy, college plans and an identity crisis.

On the other side of the coin, in “The Morning After,” Lidia and Carmen each try to justify their choices in a verbal sparring match over sex, intimacy and personal responsibility.

 

“The Effie Effect,” by Eva Schegulla; September 28th

In this comic nod to noir, Detective Donald Light and his trusty “gal-Friday,” Sylvia weave their way in and out of a handful of mysteries and mayhems. Along the way, Sylvia is confronted with her true feelings for her boss, and unravels the clues to her own happiness.

 

“The Bard’s Tale,” by Joseph Kauzlarich and Jamieson Allen Horton; October 5th

In a fanciful homage to the classics of Chaucer and Shakespeare, a chance meeting between a knight and his squire and a woodland faery has unexpected consequences.

The final evening, October 12th, will feature a student work, to be announced.

The readings will begin at 7:00 pm each night, with dinners available for purchase beginning at 6:30 pm.

Admission is by suggested donation of a non-perishable food item to benefit local food pantries. Dinners are available for $5.00.
