First Annual AFCC Masquerade Ball Features Creativity and Elegance

The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod had a successful bash!

From men in tuxedos and capes with vintage and handmade glass masks to women dressed in full Venetian period costumes, the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod's First Annual Masquerade Ball was a visual and critical success.

"It was a great event, with tremendous work by our area artists. This is something we hope to make an annual event to top off the Fall for the Arts campaign," noted Kevin Howard, executive director of the Arts Foundation.

The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod showcased some of the Cape's talent with unique centerpiece masks designed by local artists. The 125 guests voted on their favorite centerpieces, and cash prizes were awarded to Toni Newhall in third place for her traditional Venetian mask, Chris O'Dell Ferguson's mask made of found materials in second place, and glass artist Allan Brooks' tribute to fall in first place.

Entertainment included music by the Symphony Swing Orchestra, dance demonstration and instruction by Doug and Kimberlee McHugh of Ballroom Bliss, and a performance by Trevor the Juggler. Wychmere Harbor Club provided an exceptional backdrop for this festive evening.

The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod is the regional arts agency whose mission is to support, promote, celebrate, and strengthen the arts and cultural community throughout the year.
