Great White Sharks Seen At 3 Cape Cod Beaches
The beaches were briefly closed to swimming over the weekend.

CAPE COD, MA — Great white sharks were spotted at three Cape Cod beaches over the weekend. Sharks were seen near Head of the Meadow Beach and Coast Guard Beach in Truro and Nauset Beach in Orleans. The beaches were closed to swimming for about an hour Saturday, according to the Cape Cod Times.
Officials have been examining ways to keep sharks away from the Cape's shores and better address bites in the wake of two attacks on people last summer. Nauset Beach last month received first aid materials used to immediately respond to a shark attack.
Consulting firm Woods Hole Group is evaluating advanced safety methods such as sonar buoys, drones and nets. A final report is expected to be released in September.

The Cape Cod coast has already seen its fair share of shark sightings this summer. Earlier this month, a research team from the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy spotted at least 11 great whites in Cape Cod Bay, and a beach on the Atlantic Ocean side of the Cape was briefly closed after a shark was reported close to shore.
