How Serious Was The Blizzard's Damage? Officials Want To Know
The recent storm took a heavy toll on the Cape, and now the state is trying to determine just how costly the winter weather was.
CAPE COD, MA — While roads are now cleared and lights are back on, disaster officials want to size up the havoc caused on the Cape by the Blizzard of 2026.
The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency is asking residents and business owners to complete a Damage Assessment Survey that documents what the storm did to their property.
The agency will use the information to determine if Barnstable County can receive federal emergency relief and Small Business Administration aid.

Completing the form "does not mean you have applied for these programs," MEMA said in its notice – but may help the county and people here receive assistance. The information will also go to town administrators, so each Cape community is well-informed about the damage within its borders.
"Even if you have already contacted your insurance provider, you are still encouraged to complete the survey," MEMA said.
