As I sit down to gather my thoughts, I am filled with a sense of urgency and purpose. Our beloved Cape Cod is facing unprecedented challenges, from the crushing burden of inflation to the struggles of everyday people trying to make ends meet. But I firmly believe that together, we can create a brighter future for ourselves, our children, and our community.

For too long, we've been stuck in a cycle of stagnation and decline. Our local businesses are struggling, our housing market is unaffordable, and our transportation system is inadequate. But I say to you, no more! It's time for a change in direction, a new path forward that prioritizes the needs of our community and puts people over politics.

As your County Commissioner, I am committed to tackling these issues head-on. First and foremost, we must support our local businesses, the lifeblood of our economy. That means reducing unnecessary regulations, offering incentives for sustainable practices, and promoting shopping local initiatives. We must also address the affordable housing crisis, by incentivizing developers to build affordable units, exploring innovative solutions like community land trusts, and supporting local organizations working to provide affordable housing options.

But it's not just about economics; it's about people's lives. We must improve our transportation system, so people can get to work, school, and healthcare without breaking the bank. We must invest in education and workforce development, so our young people have the skills they need to succeed in the 21st century. And we must prioritize healthcare access, so everyone can get the care they need, regardless of income or status.

Now, I know what you're thinking: "This all sounds great, but how are we going to pay for it?" The answer is simple: by working together and making smart, efficient decisions about our resources. We can't afford to waste money on bloated bureaucracy or pet projects that benefit only a few. Instead, we must focus on the essentials, like infrastructure, education, and healthcare.
