Longtime Hyannis Firefighter Thomas Kenney Dies

HYANNIS, MA — A veteran of the Hyannis Fire Department has passed away, the department announced Thursday. Capt. Thomas Kenney, who served the department for over 36 years, died Wednesday, June 5.

"He was a proud member of the Hyannis Fire Department and Hyannis Firefighters Local 2172," the department said in a statement. "The outpouring of support for our members and the Kenney Family has been overwhelming and we can’t thank you enough."

Kenney retired in October after 36 years, nine months and 19 days on the job, according to the department. The Hyannis Fire Department will post funeral arrangements once they are finalized.
