Man Robbed At Gunpoint, Barnstable Police Looking For Suspect

Police said a Hyannis man was walking to the store when a man came up behind him, struck him in the head with a gun and robbed him.

BARNSTABLE, MA — Police are looking for a man they said robbed a Hyannis resident at gunpoint on School Street.

Around 3 p.m. Sunday, police were called to the area of School and Main street for reports of a man chasing another man down the street with a gun.

The victim told police he was walking to the store to get food when a man came up behind him, struck him in the head with a gun and robbed him.

After a brief struggle, police said the suspect ran away but dropped the gun as he fled. Police said the victim picked up the gun and chased after him, but he wasn't able to catch up to him.

The victim turned the gun over to police, and officers determined it was a BB gun that looked like a Glock handgun.

Police brought a K-9 unit to search for the suspect, but he has yet to be located.
