Open Streets Festival, Nature Walks Beckon Public In Barnstable
Hyannis Open Streets closes off part of Main Street to make room for music, games and more – while nearly a dozen walks are scheduled.
BARNSTABLE-HYANNIS, MA — With numerous events this weekend, Barnstable hopes to get people outdoors, whether they’re exploring nature trails or having fun on village streets.
Barnstable’s Spring Walking Weekend runs this Friday through Sunday, and will feature nine guided walks and hikes – touring Coombs Bog, exploring Fuller Farm, birding at the Barnstable Land Trust, and enjoying other scenic spots.
This year’s Walking Weekend also highlights a new route that improves accessibility to the shoreline. A walk on Friday at 10 a.m. begins near the John F. Kennedy Museum in Hyannis, follows the Walkway to the Sea and Ocean Street sidewalks, then merges onto a newly constructed, multiuse, paved pathway leading directly to Kalmus Beach.
