Photos Show Shark Eating Whale In Cape Cod Bay

A group of whale watchers came across a shark feasting on a fin whale Sunday.

BARNSTABLE, MA – A group of whale watchers out of Barnstable Harbor spotted a whale Sunday – along with a shark eating it. Joanne Jarzobski, the marine biologist for Hyannis Whale Watcher, said the boat came across an 18-foot shark gorging on a fin whale in Cape Cod Bay.

The encounter happened about 10 miles northwest of the harbor, the Cape Cod Times reported. Jarzobski said the whale was already dead before the shark started eating it.

The group also saw a smaller shark in the area, according to Jarzobski, who said in a Facebook message the 1650 passengers onboard were in "complete awe."
